Education
University of Minnesota
Born and raised in Milwaukee, Amelia Gieschen moved to Minneapolis in 2007 to attend the University of Minnesota. She now resides near Como Lake in St. Paul and her sense of adventure guides her around the country to explore our public lands. That’s not to say she sits at home when she’s not traveling. She enjoys local, outdoor activities including (but not limited to) biking, cross country skiing, rock climbing, hiking, and camping. When the weather keeps her indoors, she will often “get lost” in an experimental bread-making or pastry baking session.
Amelia also participates in the YWCA Minneapolis Women’s Triathlon almost every summer, a tradition that started in 2012. She demonstrates physical and mental strength through her achievements – and it pays off. She has continued to set a new personal record at each attempt.
In addition to living an active lifestyle, Amelia enjoys spending time with her boyfriend and their cat, a “foster fail”, Barley. She looks forward to someday road-tripping in South America and hiking in northern Alaska, but is no less delighted by what Minnesota has to offer in its diverse and vibrant culture.
Retirement Goal
“I would love to continue living a life that constantly keeps me moving, mentally and physically!”
